In Term 2 our Year 7 students have participated in weekly sporting competitions with teams competing in Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Netball and AFL football. For many, this might have been their first experience of weekly sport and most likely representing CRC Caroline Springs in SACCSS competition against other Catholic Colleges. Our students carried themselves well throughout the selection process, training regularly, leaving class at various times and competing against opposition on game day.
Term 2 was a positive sporting experience across the term with 6 of our 8 teams qualifying for semi-finals in week 8 of term. They were the Boys and Girls Basketball teams, Boys and Girls Soccer teams, Girls Netball and Boys AFL. Unfortunately, only the Netball team were successful in their Semi and qualified for the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, our girls played well and supported each other right to the end but were beaten by a very good Salesian team. Our girls showed that they deserve their place in division one and will be back next year to try again.
All teams fought out the matches well and should be proud of their efforts across the season. Thank you to all students who participated in tryouts and competition and the coaches for their hard work across the term.
We now look forward to Year 9 Premier League who will start competition in week 1 of term 3, followed by Year 8 towards the end of term 3 and into term 4.
