This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost, celebrated seven weeks after the resurrection of Jesus; the Holy Spirit was poured out upon those followers of Jesus who had gathered in Jerusalem. In Pentecost, God pours out the Spirit upon all who put their faith in Jesus Christ and become His disciples (see Romans 8:1-11).
Christians are meant to live in the presence and power of the Spirit of God. Scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us to confess Jesus as Lord, empowers us to serve God with supernatural power, binds us together as the Body of Christ, helps us to pray and even intercedes for us with God the Father. The Spirit guides us helping us to live like Jesus.
Pentecost presents us with an opportunity to consider how we are living each day. Are we relying on the power of God’s Spirit? Are we an open channel for the Spirit’s gifts? Are we attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Pentecost offers a chance to confess our failure to live by the Spirit and to ask the Lord to fill us afresh with His power. We pray that the Holy Spirit empowers us to truly live and enact our College motto of ‘Live Fully Act Justly’.
Face Masks:
I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well. Earlier this week, the Victorian Government announced that those in Greater Metropolitan Melbourne must wear a face covering when indoors from 6:00 pm Tuesday, 25 May.
Face coverings will be mandatory for people aged 12 and over when inside. Therefore, all staff and students are now required to wear masks whilst inside College buildings. However, as per the regulations teachers and education support staff are not required to wear face masks while teaching, but they can if they wish to do so.
Parents and carers will also be required to wear face coverings whenever they are onsite. At this stage, the College will be open as normal.
Many students have not brought a face mask with them to school, despite prior communication asking them to do so. We have handed out a very large number of disposable face masks to students who have required them. However, our own stocks of disposable face masks are very low and we will no longer be able provide students with face masks.
Therefore, I ask all parents to ensure that their child has a face mask with them at school at all times as per Government guidelines. Students without a face mask will not be able to attend classes.
I thank you in advance for your ongoing support and understanding. I assure you that I, along with all staff at CRC Caroline Springs are doing our utmost to support your child and we will continue to provide the best possible outcomes for all in 2021.
Staffing News
We wish Lisa Barnard, Laura Bonnini and Tiffany Azzopardi all the best as they begin their maternity leave.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome the following staff members to the CRCCS school community:
- Janine Kamleh (English Teacher)
- Nicole Croft (Science Teacher)
As always, when a new staff member begins, they bring a diverse range of knowledge, gifts and talents to share with our school community. We wish all our new staff all the best as they begin their journey at Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs.
CRC Caroline Springs Parents & Friends Association:
This year we are looking to further develop our Parents & Friends Association as we see this as a very important support group for our College. Meetings are open to and attended by interested parents/carers, friends of the College, teachers and administrative staff, as well as the Principal or one of the Deputy Principals.
Everyone is welcome to come and meet other parents, to learn more about our wonderful College, as well as participate and share in general discussion often relating to significant issues about school events.
Below are the dates for the Parents and Friends association meetings, to be held in the College Library:
Wednesday 28 July 7:00pm
Wednesday 20 October 7:00pm
We would like for interested parents to please email the College at: principal@crccs.vic.edu.au
