Heaven – The Four Last Things

With the restrictions now eased many of us have been reunited with our families and loved ones once again. This has been met with great happiness and jubilation. In a way this wonderful experience on earth is a foretaste of heaven. Heaven is the state of everlasting union with God which fills the person with perfect happiness and joy. However, even if we reflect on our happiest moments in our lives, nothing compares to the joy we will experience in heaven. It is important for us to have our sights set on the supernatural. St Augustine experienced a time when God was unknown to him and he was seeking happiness from somewhere else until he finally realised 'You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless till they rest in you!'

Our Catholic Faith teaches us of The Four Last Things – Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell. It is a wonderful reminder for us to be concerned about things beyond this earth. To be aware that when we depart this life our souls will live on.

Remembrance Day Liturgy

This year marked the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World war. As the world welcomed peace, thousands returned home to their loved ones. Our College community commemorated Remembrance Day through a live streamed liturgy led by our wonderful Year 7 Leaders – Ava N 7Lingiari, Nyankat D 7 Wonga, Jessica K 7 Kororoit and Rahma A 7 Marin-Kurang. The liturgy was a time to pray in thanksgiving to God for sacrifices made by those who served and are currently serving as well as praying for peace in our world. We were reminded of Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John, “My command is this: Love each other as I have love you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay ones life for one’s friends.”
