Feast of All Saints and All Souls

All Saints

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of all Saints. Saints are not something foreign to our Catholic faith. In fact, many of us know of saints from the various devotions of our parents and grandparents. We are encouraged to pick a saint for our confirmation, and we celebrate the memorial of saints throughout the church’s liturgical year. However, at times we forget that saints are human. Before becoming saints, these men and women were normal people from all walks of life. The church constantly reminds us that we are all called to be saints. A wonderful example is the recent beatification of 15 year-old Carlo Acutis. He died in 2006 from leukemia. Carlo had a great devotion to our Mother Mary and the Eucharist. He used his gift of computing to create and design a website featuring the eucharistic miracles. Recently, his body was exhumed and put on display for veneration and found to be incorrupt. Carlo is a wonderful reminder and a great example to our children that we are all called to holiness and the potential our children have when they open their hearts and minds to God. If he becomes a saint, he will be the first millennial saint.

Who was Carlo Acutis?

All Souls

This coming Monday we celebrate the feast of all souls. We remember all those who have died and pray for their souls. Let us especially pray for the thousands of people who have died due to the corona virus around the world.

‘Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.’

Ask A Priest Session

Last Thursday 22 October several students participated in the ‘Ask A Priest’ session. Fr Richard Rosse answered questions posed by the students on various topics of the faith. The session was convened by Ms Calandra and Mr Sammut. We thank Fr Richard for his support in nurturing our students in their faith.

"Ask A Preist" was a really great experience! We had a chance to finally ask Father Richard some of our questions we have been wondering about our Faith. It was such an enjoyable experience to be able to talk to Father Richard and learn a lot too!

On Thursday 22 October, a few students remotely through MS Teams on site spent a portion of our lunchtime asking our parish priest, Fr. Richard and seminarian Tien Tran a few questions about our faith. We all asked various questions around Catholicism and the answers were quite humble and gave us a greater knowledge of why Catholicism believes certain things. I appreciated the detail and friendliness of Fr Richard and Tien with their responses and I felt very welcomed by the whole group especially since some of us could not be there in person.

I would like to thank Fr Richard and Tien for spending your time with our school and giving us a better insight into our faith.
