Everything has Its Time
We are very fortunate in the Catholic Church that every day at mass we are able to encounter the Sacred Word of God through scripture. The Church has a two-year cycle for weekly masses and a three-year cycle for Sundays (A, B & C). This allows us to experience a variety of readings. Next Friday the first reading is a reading from the book of Ecclesiastes (Eccl 3:1-11). Part of it features in the prayer for this edition of the newsletter. This reading is often proclaimed at funerals focusing on the limits of time we have here on earth.
We are obsessed with time and it has become so important to us lately. We are bound by time with the unavoidable experience of time through curfews; the significant time we have been away from family; the prolonged period since we have been able to go out or even the time we have had to endure staged restrictions. We have had to look at different ways we use our time and for some of us we have recognised how we can use our time for greater purpose and meaning in our lives. As humans on this earth we know that time is finite however as Catholics we believe that God is not bound by time, His time is eternal and that one day we will share in His eternal life. But for now, as we finish another term, let us take time to rest.
Father’s Day Live Stream Mass
On Friday 4 September the families of Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs were invited to give thanks to God for the wonderful gift of fatherhood and to pray for God’s continued grace and blessings upon them. Many students and their fathers watched the livestream Mass. I would like to thank Fr Richard, Parish Priest of St Catherine of Siena Parish, for his support in supporting the catholic faith of our families.
Deputy College Captain, Janine S has shared her experience of the morning.
As part of my family, one of our Father's Day traditions is to go to mass and pray for fathers and significant male figures in our and other people's lives. It is always a good day for me as I can sit in the church knowing that I have a father who supports me and my family. I am very grateful for my father and my family and Father's Day Mass always reminds me of that. I know Father's Day isn't a very happy celebration for some but joining in this mass it lets my family and I pray for those who are in a less fortunate situation.
Because of the current situation this year I couldn't be at church, but the St Catherine of Siena parish and the CRCCS community organised a Father's day mass for the students and parishioners. The online mass still had the feeling of being able to connect with the community and being able to pray with my family. It really made my Father’s Day very enjoyable.
I would like to thank all students, fathers, and families that joined in the celebration. And I would also like to thank Fr Richard Rosse, Deacon Chris Creo, and Seminarian Tien Tran for celebrating the mass.

Lunchtime Virtual Rosary
In Term 3 several students and staff have continued to pray a decade of the rosary at the beginning of every lunch to honour Our Mother Mary. Through contemplating the mysteries of the rosary, they have been able to journey in the life Mary and our Lord, Jesus Christ offering their prayers for Mary’s intercession. This will be continued in Term 4 as we enter the month of October traditionally dedicated to the rosary.
Students who have attended the rosary have shared their experience.
I wanted to attend the Rosary to grow in my faith and love for God. I also wanted to grow in my relationship with our Holy Mother of God and I could begin that through the Rosary. My experience with the Rosary has been beautiful! It is the part of my day that I look forward to the most and it is such a lovely experience. I have learnt more about the life of Jesus in a deeper and meaningful way through this prayer. The Rosary has strengthened my faith as I have grown in my love for God and Mary. I have also learnt more about the Catholic faith on a deeper and more special level. I now make the commitment to praying the Rosary daily.

I decided to attend rosary because I didn't really know much about it. I began to attend and then I started to learn more about the prayers. It is a great experience and It only goes for a short ten minutes but it is so good to attend. It has strengthened my faith, especially during these times. It is difficult to continue the rosary from home, but it has been a great experience.

I signed up to the rosary wanting to be able to learn how to pray the rosary, learn the different mysteries and strengthen my relationship with God. I've learnt so much from partaking in the rosary and I feel I have really been able to connect with God strongly. I've learnt so much about the mysteries and how the rosary is such a powerful prayer. I now pray the rosary in my spare time and reflect on the mysteries too.
